Recall — Contact Notes
Privacy Policy
Overview
Recall is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information.
Everything stays on this ship. No servers, no analytics, no third parties.
Information We Access
With your permission, Recall reads contact information already stored on your device through Apple's Contacts framework. This includes names, phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses, and photos. We access this data only to display it within the app.
Information You Create
When you use Recall, you may add notes, tags, call logs, birthdays, anniversaries, kids' birthdays, reminders, gift ideas, dietary preferences, and social profile links. This information is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
Where Your Data Lives
All data — both what we read from your system contacts and what you add within the app — is stored exclusively on your device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers or to any third party. We do not operate servers that receive your data.
Permissions
Recall requests the following permissions:
- Contacts. Required to display and manage your contacts within the app.
- Notifications. Used to deliver local alerts for birthdays, anniversaries, and kids' birthdays. Scheduled and delivered entirely on your device.
- Reminders (optional). When granted, contact reminders mirror to a dedicated Recall list in iOS Reminders so they appear in Siri, on Apple Watch, and on Mac. No data leaves your device.
You can revoke any permission at any time in the iOS Settings app.
Third Parties
Recall does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not share your data with anyone.
Children's Privacy
Recall does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app may be used to store birthdays of children entered by adult account holders, but no information is transmitted off the device.
Your Rights
You have full control over your data. You can remove individual contacts from Recall at any time — this does not affect your system Contacts. You can delete all Recall data by uninstalling the app. And you can revoke contacts or notification access in iOS Settings.
Recall includes a full data export feature inside Settings → Your Data that produces a portable JSON copy of everything you've added.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected in updates to the app and in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
